Many have waited patiently for its release while some agonized over it. But regardless, PlayStation 3 is now here. PlayStation 3 or PS3 is the seventh-generation video game console of Sony and the third in the PlayStation series. The PS3 competes directly with Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Nintendo’s Wii. Sony released the first game consoles on November 2006 in Japan followed by the launch on the same month in the United States, Canada, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

After months of speculations, Sony has yet to release official statements that their PlayStation Portable is going to be upgraded this year. Even at the end of the 2006, more speculative news were released regarding the already much talked about upgrades of the portable game console.

Created to be the successor to the quite popular Xbox, Microsoft released in 2005 the Xbox 360. Microsoft developed the new game console through the cooperation of IBM, ATI, Samsung and SiS. The launching of the new game console was a great success, with sales numbering to more than 10.4 million worldwide before the end of 2006. The Xbox 360 is the seventh generation of game consoles from Microsoft and is a direct competitor of Sony’s PlayStation 3 and Nintendo’s Wii.

The infamous Microsoft Xbox is among one of the top gaming consoles available today. It was first introduced to battle the Sony Playstation for the title of “the top gaming system”. The two systems are very similar in that they offer high quality resolution with complex and technologically advanced games. One of the top features that the Xbox offers is a live gaming experience. For those unfamiliar with Xbox Live, it is described as an online multiplayer gaming and digital media delivery service created and operated by Microsoft Corporation.
