Change Windows Password

If you use a computer with the Microsoft Windows operating system such as Windows XP, you might be wondering how to change your windows password. Here is some step by step information on how to easily and effectively change your windows password.

Please note that the following information refers to changing a password on a home based computer that is either stand alone or connected to a small network of other computers.

Steps to Change your Windows Password

* Click your Start button on the bottom at the screen and then click the tab for control panel.

* Click the icon for User Accounts

* Once the user Accounts box comes up, choose the account to change. Usually, you will see two or more accounts, one of them being your account and the other being a guest account.

* Click “Change my password”

* Once you have requested to change your password,
it will ask you for your current password. Type in the box your current password.

* Now, enter your new password. In addition, you will also be asked to enter your new password again as a redundancy check.

* Windows allows you to type in a word that can be used as a hint or memory aid for the new password you entered, in case you have forgotten it. Type this word or phrase in the box provided.

* Now, just click Change password and your new password will go into effect.

Then next time that you will log into your computer, you will need to type your new password to gain entry to your files and folders and to use the computer.
