How to Start a Career in Computer Networking

Posted on 29 July 2010

Many people are now venturing into, and are employed in various computer-related jobs. One of the fields that have experienced unceasing growth is computer networking.

There are some challenges, however. For one, some college degree curriculums cannot offer the quality training necessary to succeed in certain areas of the IT field. Employers, on the other hand, are busy sorting out resumes, and yet having a hard time determining who among them possess the much-needed technical know-how as well as training to manage any networking job.

People say that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. If you are confused on what to do and still want to get a computer-related job, enroll yourself to Cisco Certification programs. You can earn such program by taking examinations and fulfilling courses that allow you to showcase your capacity to handle any computer networking problem or challenge in different levels. These levels are classified into three, namely the associate, professional, and, lastly, expert. The last one is considered to be the highest level.

There are many ways in which you can prepare for the different Cisco Certification examinations; the most successful and effective, so far, is through boot camps. The concept originated from the basic but extensive military training at the shortest span of time. The CCNA boot camp meant to ready you when you’re about to take the network associate level of Cisco. Normally, these boot camps last for one to two weeks, and usually extend to seven days for each week. If you’re lucky, you may even land in a boot camp that offers more than enough exam preparation. They can even help you prepare for any employment once you receive your certification. This is achieved through a combination of lectures and hands-on application, with the facilitation of professional and expert teachers.

The CCIE boot camp, on the other hand, will ready you when you’re about to take the last hurdle for Cisco certification: the expert level. However, before you can take such training , you should have earned the other two certificates first. Once you undergo the CCIE boot camp, you will be qualified to become a master in computer networking.

There’s no such thing as being too early when it comes to preparing for a career in computer networking. In fact, even when you’re in high school, you must start learning about it. You can always ask support from your guidance counselor or computer teacher.
