Digital and Photography

Posted on 15 July 2010

One of the greatest advantage of digital photography is you can see the photo you have taken immediately. As you have this option of viewing them as soon as you take, it is possible to delete those, which have not come out well. To do this, you can use a feature called “review.” In this way, you can take not better but best photographs.

Like review, there is also a feature called “preview.” This will allow you to see the image that you are going to take in a small LCD screen. If you are happy with the image, you can take the digital photograph else you can change the settings accordingly. Certain digital cameras offer “automatic review” feature. It is better to turn off this feature as it may consume a lot of battery power. It is always best to manually use the review feature.

First, choose the photograph you are interested in taking. Depending upon the photograph that you are going to take, set the features like focal length, exposure mode, shutter speed, etc. Once you are over with this, you are given a green signal to take the snap.

Certain digital cameras with optical view finders have what is known as “parallax phenomenon.” This is due to the distance between the view finder and the lens. However, there are advantages also in using optical view finders. One is that they do not consume more battery power and secondly, they are easier to be used in daylight.

You can learn about all these techniques if you read the user manual that came with your digital camera carefully. To check out whether the image is in focus or that the image has a red-eye, you can use the zoom feature.

There are various flash modes available in most of the digital cameras like auto-mode, red-eyed mode. Auto mode can be used when there is little light and red-eyed mode can be used to eliminate red eye. When the light from the flash enters the pupil and reflected off the back of the eye, due to the blood vessels that are present in the retina, red eye occurs. When red-eyed mode is used, you can avoid taking photographs with a red eye.

However, certain digital cameras don’t have this red eye mode. In such cases, you can remove red eye by transferring these photos to the system and then using software like Photoshop.

Using all these features, you can review the image you have taken and can delete those that are not necessary. In this way, you can have more space in your digital camera to store photographs. You can not only delete unwanted photographs but can also take them again if not come out well. You can also delete the pictures after you have transferred them to the system as you get a better and a bigger view.
