Image viewing is a great way to spend a day with family members and friends. It is very interesting to look at various photos of a certain occasion during reunion. Aside from that, image viewing is also a part of several school discussions like reporting. This is used to give further emphasis on the subject matter. There are several ways to be able to view images in front of a group of people. Tools like a slide projector are often used so that the images to be shared will be seen by a larger group of people in a convenient manner.
A slide projector is a tool used to be able to display slides containing images. During the year 1950 up to 1960, slide projectors were being used for family entertainment. They use this as a tool to display different images as family members and friends gather together.
Slide projectors contain four primary elements. A light source commonly a fan-cooled light bulb, a reflector & condensing lens, a slide holder and focusing lens are the main components of a slide projector. These components perform the basic functions of a slide projector so that it will work properly.
A slide projector works by using a light source to produce a light beam. There will be a piece of glass that absorbs heat placed in the light path. This absorbing glass is usually found linking the condensing lens & photo slide to avoid any damage to the slide. Light will pass thru the transparent slide & lens. Then, the image will be enlarged and displayed on a flat screen so that the audience will be able to view it.
Over the years, there have been different types of slide projectors created. These are carousel slide projectors, single slide projectors, dual slide projectors; slide cube projectors, viewer slide projectors, and stereo slide projectors. Carousel slide projectors is used to display slide shows and considered to be the common type of slide projectors. This slide projector works by having a circular tray capable of holding several slides at a time and displaying each image one by one in a certain order. Single slide projectors are capable of holding one slide at a time and considered as a manual type of projector. Slide cube projectors are like the carousel slide projectors but cheaper. It is also capable of holding several slide images at a time but instead of mounting it into a circular tray, plastic cubes were used. Bell and Howell created this projector and was sold until the year 1980.
Kodak played a major role in manufacturing slide projectors before. There were various models created for slide projectors. However, last October 2004, Kodak stopped manufacturing slide projectors. This decision by Kodak could have been due to the availability of various image and video display gadgets that are circulating in the market nowadays. Aside from that, a slide projector needs to process the photos to create the slide film and in most countries, there is a difficulty in finding photo processors to do that task.
