Tele stands for Distant, Conference means Discussion involving more than two parties. So teleconference can be defined as live exchange or communication of information among two or more people at different geographic location connected through a telecommunication system.
In a teleconference, there will be a calling party and more than one called party. The calling party uses the special equipment or services via communication system to establish a link with two or more remote parties. Once the link is established. all parties can share information with other parties – just like a n in-person conference or meeting.
A teleconference can be ATC (Audio Teleconference) or VTC (Video teleconference). The medium commonly used for teleconferencing system, is the commonly available telephone cables. The equipment used for the conferencing or linking multiple parties is called teleconferencing bridge.
Some service providers offer this teleconferencing service to their customers, by asking them to dial special numbers to access this service.
