The company that makes this is called No Nonsense Software, and that name is absolutely right. I have no idea how I could have gotten along without this great text replacement program. If you change a variable in over 70 PHP files to conform to a new standard by hand you are either bored out of your mind or insane. I used to be insane. With this program I have been able to do every file in a directory at once, and so far as long as I don’t misspell what I want replaced it replaces it perfectly. Imagine doing this by hand for a 500 megabyte SQL database file, changing every prefix – now imagine letting this program do it for you while you sit back and watch. I would hope you said “Well, I’d rather let this do it” – because if you didn’t then you might need your head checked.
TextRep is sleek, well designed, and simple to operate. The file explorer is very easy to use, and it needs minimal configuration. It also gives you the option to make a backup of every file you do, and to be CaSeSeNsItIvE so that if what you are replacing has a different case – it won’t replace it. Only exact matches in case and characters, in addition to this you can tell it to do whole words only in case it is a text document or a document you know has single words that need replacing. The backup is nice since it first takes each file it touches, copies it, and adds .bak to the extension. To restore – you just delete the modified file and then remove .bak from the extension. In addition to these great features you can also scan folders and subfolders and add a filter to select certain file types. Very powerful, very simple, and very useful.
